JOIN OUR TEAM AS A PROGRAM ASSISTANT
We will be hosting our third summer cohort in July 2022.
Our cohorts typically have 1 Program Assistant for every 5 students.
Roles and responsibilities
A Program Assistant (PA) is responsible for the safe and effective day-to-day operation of the program, including the facilitation and presentation of workshop/speaker sessions, and the mentorship of student participants. A PA will overtly encourage and foster creativity, inclusion, and personal development. This is a volunteer and virtual role.
Be fully engaged in all mandatory program sessions, and at least one PA must plan and attend optional social events
Attend four bi-weekly training sessions beginning late April on program content, unconscious biases/inclusivity, and mental health
Act as a role model and coach to participants and team members throughout the program
Monitor participant engagement and escalate any concerns to the SUV leadership team when needed
What we are looking for
Have completed first year of university or equivalent in any program
A confident and approachable communication style: you will be guiding participants through program activities, mediating conflicts, facilitating discussions, and providing mentorship
Interest and/or experience in youth education, social work, entrepreneurship, leadership development, and/or program management
A mindset for safety, inclusion, and community: the well-being and confidence-building of our student participants is our top priority, and we must be particularly sensitive to their diverse backgrounds
Experience working with and being responsible for youth (ages 14-18)
Experience working in collaborative team settings
Training: 3-hour bi-weekly sessions from late April to early June
Programming: 3-4 hours/day from Monday-Friday for the month of the program, 1:1 mentorship, and preparation
Summer 2022 dates TBA
